Important reminders

    Travelling over the holidays?
Make sure to bring your benefits card with you!
On the back of your card, you’ll find a phone number to call if you
or your dependent experiences a medical emergency while you’re
     outside of Canada.

Learn more about your emergency travel medical benefits.

•    Tax slips are coming your way.
Our plan administrator, Cowan, will send you a T4A in February that
you’ll need to include with your 2023 tax return. Your T4A reports
your taxable benefit for Life Insurance and Accidental Death &
Dismemberment (AD&D) Insurance, since the premiums for these
     benefits are paid by ONE-T.

New this year: The federal government recently introduced the
Canadian Dental Care Plan (CDCP) to help lower dental costs for
families that do not have dental coverage through a benefits plan
and who earn less than $90,000 per year. Employers and plan
providers – like ONE-T – must now provide you with a tax slip each
year that states if you’re eligible for dental benefits through another
program (i.e., through the ONE-T benefits plan).

•    Change of address?
If you moved in 2023, please inform your school board or
participating employer before the end of 2023. This way, we can
make sure Cowan’s system is up-to-date and that you will continue
to receive important mail – like your T4A slip – on time.

What’s new on ONE-T.ca

Last year, we launched our new website. Here are some highlights of what you’ll find on it:

•    Plan summary, that describes all the benefits you and your
    dependents receive through ONE-T
•    Webinar recording. If you missed our webinars in November, listen
in to learn how the Trust works, about your Health Care Spending
Account, and what’s new with your benefits plan
•    Helpful hints for submitting your health and dental claims – find
out how you can get your claims paid faster and avoid any unhappy
     surprises
•    Plan updates effective September 1, 2023, including more coverage
for mental health services and dental care
•    How to submit a Health Care Spending Account claim – this video
walks through all the steps, including how to submit your 5% annual
premium contribution to get reimbursed through your HCSA
•    Get in touch with our providers – including Cowan and Canada Life

We encourage you to review these pages – and all communication that comes your way – so you can stay informed and make the most of your benefits plan.

If you have a question or topic you’d like us to cover in the future, please send an email to info@one-t.ca.
